KUALA LUMPUR: Polis berjaya menumpaskan 6 individu dipercayai sindikit secara haram mencuri data siaran Astro channel dengan bayaran paling murah RM40 tetapi secara online dapat seluruh channel Astro.
Bukit Aman Commercial Criminal Investigation Department (CCID) director Commissioner Datuk Acryl Sani Abdullah Sani berkata suspek berumur lingkungan 39 and 53 mereka menetap di bandar Johor Bharu sejak April 20 tahun lepas. Merupakan sindiket hackers yang dikehendaki polis.
"Dengan anggota, CCID team percaya mereka menggunakan sistem live streaming hackers(software) dan beberapa alat berjaya dirampas termasuk 12 units modem, router, 500 Astro decoders and cards, Android set-up box, mobile phones and computer tablets,"kata beliau.
Acryl Sani berkata penyiasatan juga dilakukan amat mengejutkan mereka berjaya memperolehi keuntungan RM900,000 sebulan, sejak mula beroperasi sepenuhnya sekitar tahun 2015 dan berjaya mencapai 30,000 pelanggan seluruh Malaysia.
"Mencuri data adalah satu kesalahan Copy Rights Act 1987. Dan berharap agar semua pelanggan lebih berhati-hati dengan produk yang ditawarkan," ulas beliau.
Suspek masih dibicarakan di bawah akta Section 41 of the Copyright Act 1987
